SWISS to launch Tallinn–Zurich route

02.07.2021

Today, the flag carrier of Switzerland, Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS), started to fly directly between Tallinn and Zurich. For the time being, the flights are scheduled to operate twice a week (on Fridays and Sundays).

According to the Chief Commercial Officer of Tallinn Airport, Eero Pärgmäe, the route and the carrier are both much anticipated. “We are pleased that air traffic is picking up again and that new routes can be opened from Tallinn Airport and we can welcome new airlines. To date, Zurich has had untapped potential – Estonians’ interest in flying to Switzerland, and vice versa, has been great but opportunities for this have been scarce. Current feedback regarding the new route has been very positive and interest has remained strong, and the carrier has responded by adding weekly Thursday flights from mid-July and Tuesday flights from August,” says Pärgmäe.

Christopher Zimmer, Lufthansa General Manager Sales, Finland & Baltic, is also very happy about SWISS’s presence in Estonia. “We are excited to welcome Lufthansa Group airline SWISS to Estonia. The new route Tallinn–Zurich offers nonstop connection to Switzerland and to many other destinations with transfer at Zurich Kloten airport. The new flight complements our existing routes from Tallinn.”

The connection between the major city and business hub of Switzerland, Zurich, will offer an opportunity to Estonians to fly directly to Switzerland, which with its proximity to the slopes of the Alps provides a good opportunity to serve as a starting point to tours around Central and Southern Europe.
