Responding to a plane crash on Lake Ülemiste will be practiced on Wednesday, 6 September

A major exercise organised by Tallinn Airport will take place on and around Lake Ülemiste at 10:00 on Wednesday, 6 September, the objective of which is to practice responding to a plane crash. The approximate duration of the exercise is 4 hours and it bring a lot of operational and rescue equipment to the shore of Lake Ülemiste on the Tartu Road side.

This is a cooperation exercise, where the other participants in addition to Tallinn Airport are the Northern Rescue Centre of the Rescue Board, the Emergency Response Centre, the Police and Border Guard Board, Tallinn Ambulance, AS Tallinna Vesi and Lennuliiklusteeninduse AS. The exercise includes practicing incident response and inter-agency cooperation, search and rescue of passengers and crew both on water and on land, identification of casualties, localisation of fuel and oil spills, and general crisis management at the level of and between agencies.

In connection with the exercise, the traffic speed on Tartu road between Lennujaama tee and Kanali tee will be limited to 30 km/h from 09:00 to 15:00 on Wednesday. Please be aware of the traffic restriction and allow for extra time when coming to the airport. The exercise has no impact on normal air traffic.
