In August, Tallinn Airport served more than 305,000 passengers with the number having increased 12% compared to last year. In eight months, nearly 2 million passengers have passed through the airport, being 15% more than in the same period the year prior.
Altogether, there were regular flights to 41 different destinations in August. Most popular of them was typically Helsinki, with 10 daily flights. By number of passengers, Helsinki is followed by Frankfurt with three and Riga with five daily flights.
This summer, several exciting holiday destinations, such as Paphos, Malta, Constanta and Orhid were added to the traditional summer routes (Girona, Barcelona, Athens, etc), which were very well received by the passengers. “We are pleased to admit that despite the exceptionally warm summer, we had plenty of passengers on new as well as on traditional summer routes. We recommend everyone with days left over from their holiday, to fly and prolong their summer, as for example the routes to Paphos and Malta will be open throughout the year,” Eero Pärgmäe, the Commercial Director of Tallinn Airport said. From charter flights, the beach holidays to the resorts in Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece are still popular.
Pärgmäe added that until the end of October, the terminal is really crowded during rush hours and there is a lot of traffic, therefore it is advisable to arrive at the airport in good time, that is two hours before the departure of the flight.
