Turkish Airlines, nominated Eurpe’s Best Airline in 2011 and 2012, opened Tallinn-Istanbul route on June 11.
In addition to Europe’s most valued prize “Best Airline in Europe”, which Turkish Airlines won in 2011 and 2012, the airline also collected “Best Premium Economy Class Airline Seat”. This signifies the best passenger experience in upper economy class, and alongside with the grand prize, is awarded upon the decision of millions of passengers. For their excellence in onboard catering, the airline also won “Best food, economy class” award in 2010. Winners of Skytrax World Airline Awards are chosen based upon annual polls of over 18 million business and leisure travellers from 100 countries.
The route network of Turkish Airlines brings 200 destinations on six continents to the distance of one transfer from Tallinn. It also fills a large blank area on the map of available destinations from Tallinn, that covered Arabic countries, Africa and Central Asia. For a passionate traveller, this means many exotic destinations e.g Sri Lanka, Hongkong, Maledives or Japan, are much more convenient to reach.
Getting Turkish Airlines to Tallinn took Tallinn Airport more than three years. It has been a national effort, says Erik Sakkov, member of management board at Tallinn Airport. “Enormous efforts have been made by Estonian diplomats and politicions, up to ministers of foreign affairs and economic affairs, even the president,” Sakkov said.
