06.12.2017

In November, Tallinn Airport provided services to over 200 thousand passengers, which is 27 per cent more than the same period last year.

According to Eero Pärgmäe, Commercial Director of Tallinn Airport, the figures from November show the highest growth rate of the year. “The extraordinary growth was supported by added regular flights as well as improved seat occupancy. At the same time, the fast-growing volumes of charter traffic also had a significant impact,” Pärgmäe noted.

In November, the charter season to Turkey ended and was replaced with North African destinations. The number of charter passengers to Egypt doubled compared to last year. Notably more people also travelled to the Canary Islands and Morocco. In addition to beach holidays, the increase in the number of charter passengers was supported by incoming charter flights from Norway.

Strong demand for regular flights was demonstrated by a 23 per cent increase in the number of passengers, while there were 15 per cent more seats on sale compared to the previous year. Warsaw was the destination to where the number of flights and passengers increased the most. Also, easyJet, which started regular flights to Berlin in November, added capacity to its London route. In the month, direct flights to Helsinki, Riga, Stockholm, Frankfurt and London had the highest number of passengers, totalling 45 per cent of all travellers. Altogether, there were regular flights to 26 different destinations in November.
